Based on the doctrinal summaries in the Disciple’s Study Bible.
SCRIPTURE: Matthew 9:20-22, Mark 8:12
OBJECT: a piece of clothing
We talked last time about miracles. We said that we can’t do miracles, but God can. There is something we can do, though, that God can use to do miracles. We can have faith.
There’s a beautiful story in the Bible about a woman who had been sick for 12 long years. She wanted Jesus to heal her, but she was afraid to go right up to Him and ask for His help. So she thought to herself, “If I just touch His cloak, I know I’ll be healed.” Jesus was walking in a crowd of people, and the woman quietly crept up behind Him. She reached out, ever so carefully. She probably just barely touched the edge of Jesus’ clothes, like this (touch the clothing item). The gospel of Matthew tells us the woman was healed “from that moment,” right away! Jesus said to her, “Take heart, daughter. Your faith has healed you.” Read the rest of this entry »

Another children’s object lesson based on the doctrinal summaries in the Disciple’s Study Bible.
SCRIPTURE: Job 9:10
OBJECT: a magic trick
Do you like magic? I’ve brought a magic trick to show you today. (Do the trick.)
Whenever people watch a magic trick, they’re usually thinking one thing: How did he do that? Some people can’t even sit back and enjoy the magic show because they’re working so hard to try to figure out how the tricks are done. Read the rest of this entry »

Another children’s sermon based on the doctrinal summaries in the Disciple’s Study Bible.
SCRIPTURE: I Corinthians 15:24-26

Another children’s object lesson based on the doctrinal summaries in the Disciple’s Study Bible.
SCRIPTURES: Acts 1:11, Revelation 22:20
OBJECT: an airplane or bus ticket
I want you to think with me today about the life of Jesus. You probably know about how Jesus was born, grew up, preached and did miracles, died and came back to life. Does anyone know what happened next? How did Jesus finally get back to heaven? That’s right; He just went up into heaven as His disciples were watching. Read the rest of this entry »

Another children’s sermon in my series based on the doctrinal summaries in the Disciple’s Study Bible.
SCRIPTURE: Acts 4:10-12
OBJECT: some type of swimmer’s lifesaving device
We’ve been talking about Jesus. We’ve learned that Jesus is God’s Son, and that He was really human when He was here on earth. It’s because Jesus was both God and man that He could be our Savior. Read the rest of this entry »

We’re thinking again today about Jesus. We said last time that Jesus is God’s Son. Today I want us to look at another important fact about Jesus. He was human. Read the rest of this entry »

Another object lesson based on the doctrinal summaries in the Disciple’s Study Bible.
SCRIPTURES: John 1:1-2, John 14:8-9
OBJECT: a picture of a father and son
In our next three times together, I’m going to be talking about Jesus. Now we all know about Jesus, don’t we? You’ve probably sung songs like “Jesus Loves Me” since before you can remember. But not everyone in the world agrees on who Jesus really is. That’s what I’d like us to think about. Read the rest of this entry »

Another object lesson based on the doctrinal summaries in the Disciple’s Study Bible.
SCRIPTURE: Romans 8:9
OBJECT: a piece of lettuce and a piece of meat
We talked last time about what it means to be human, made in the image of God. It’s a very good thing to be created in God’s likeness. But today I want to tell you about something else it means to be human. Read the rest of this entry »

Based on one of the doctrinal summaries in the Disciple’s Study Bible
SCRIPTURE: Genesis 5:1
OBJECT: a small mirror
I’ve got a question for you today, a sort of riddle. I’m going to name four things God created, and I want you to tell me which one is most different from all the others, O.K.? Here they are: a cow, a lion, a hippopotamus…and you. Which one is most different from all the others? Yes, you. Why? That’s right, because you aren’t an animal. You are human.
